Not that I need a new look for my weblog, but it’s just that I want to do some redesign work to improve a number of things. I enjoy tweaking things. Although I’m very inclined to feature more stuff on the weblog sidebar, which is on the right column, I’ll try to keep it as simple and clean as it should have been.
It has been months that I tend to post more photographs than text. Actually, I’ve not come up with any idea of what I can do something about it. I guess I may need to have a good photo gallery plug-in installed, so that visitors can easily find the photographs they may want to re-use. This also means that I have to find a better solution for readers to find archived posts easily. Categorizing posts is probably one of the best ways to organize information; and I still believe it’s far better than tagging. I use both, though, to complement one another, so that getting access to archived content can be done in more than one way. I integrated Google Custom Search Engine for quite some time, and have been really been impressed by its power in providing relevant result.
I’m going to design a new image header to ensure that it does reflect the content of the weblog, its purpose, and its author.
The theme used here is based on WordPress Default 1.5 by Michael Heilemann. I’ve made a lot of modifications all the way, and so I simply name it: ThinkBook.
Technologies and tools being used to power this weblog:
* WordPress
a state-of-the-art publishing platform
* Google Custom Search Engine
to create a search engine tailored to your needs
* Google Analytics
makes it easy to improve your results online.
* Flickr
almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world
* Creative Commons
tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry.
* Mozilla Firefox
Firefox 3 sets the pace with dozens of new features, including the smart location bar, one-click bookmarking and blindingly fast performance.
* Delicious
Web page bookmark used to list what I’ve been recently reading.
* Digital camera Nikon D60
I thought there is something great about having this self-hosted WordPress, the blogging platform I use. Writing this post and tweaking the weblog code is being done on a slow Internet connection. Basically, I connect my laptop to my cellphone, which acts a modem; the speed is 115.2 Kbps. I’m using Mozilla Firefox version 3.0 (well, Google Chrome doesn’t allow me to turn off ‘load images’); I turned off load pictures, Java Scripts, and Java. So it’s as if it’s less than browsing the Web and doing thing in less than ‘text mode only’.
What I can’t accomplished just yet is adding aside to my weblog. Twitter is a solution, but it’s yet impossible to host the content my own web host. I would rather prefer to have the niche content found as part of the weblog than elsewhere.
Some information about this weblog:
Since 2004 until today, I’ve got 600 posts, 15 static pages, 9 categories, 14 tags, and not to mention 167,287 spam.
good luck with your blog.
It looks awkward some parts: color/font size(readability), especially the top section.
