Fast Food for Late Lunch
No McDonal’s, no Burger King, and even Starbucks here in Phnom Penh, the commercial, political and cultural hub of Cambodia. Phnom Penhers are very familiar with local brand: Lucky Burger, BB World, Lucky 7, the Pizza Company, and a few other smaller ones. Thing starts to change now, if not much. Agence France-Presse has a news story on Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a Malaysian fast food firm, making its way to the city of approximately two million people. Chinese food is good, so is Cambodian. But takeout junk food is a great option for busy people in bustling city. For sure, Phnom Penh is neither the first, nor the last destination; from China to Cambodia, the fast-food restaurants are, to young people, a popular place to hang out. Not quite sure whether this business has been established in Cameroon.

Kentucky? I recognize that word from the whiskey bottles. I’m pretty sure that KFC is American, from the state of Kentucky.

That’s exactly what I thought, KFC is American food chain store. My guess is that, a Malaysian company/restaurant gets a licence from KFC to open a store in Cambodia.
