Back to School
In the second week of this August I will go back to life as a student once again. I restart school after my university graduation in mid 2004. I have been quite fascinating in some amazing things, enjoying and experimenting so many curiosities, in this long period of time. Well, from now my free time beyond my job comes to its end. But I am starting fresh. I am going to spend my available time attending Diploma in Buddhism, a Buddhist Studies Program, at Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University.
In late July I ended up looking at an announcement banner on Sisowath Quay, which opposites to Chaktok Muk Theatre. The message, in Khmer, announces briefly the university is opening a one-year diploma on Buddhism in English language. The day later I visited the education office and got an application form for an entrance exam. And some days later I went there again for a test. In a room of about 40 examinees, full of Buddhist monks, a few folks like me and a young woman, I was sitting there to answer to questions, which was quite interesting. Knowing that I was accepted following the entrance test early this month, I feel so elated. I thought it would be a big blow if I were not able to make it. The fact is that I have been interested in philosophical thinking of one of the world influential figures in the world history. I think this came to me, being more open to broaden my fields of interest, when reading a novel about the history of philosophy a year ago. And I thought I come to a stage in life in which I walk alongside with the faculty of wonder. I am sure I will have to concentrate on my learning as I believe that what I will learn will contribute signifcantly to my professionalism and personal life.
Presently located in Ministry of Cults and Religions, Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University was originally established in 1959 to offer both intermediate and undergraduate courses in Buddhist Philosophy.

I have just decided to drop the course. I mean it. Having been there for about three times, I thought it is not what I expected. Yet, I am keen to learn this topic. I thought it is one of the most interesting topics I have been interested in. But at the time you are reading this now I dropped the school already.

Go to Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University and study in budhism?? That sounds interesting. It must be another good thing to pave your way to journalism.

Hey Tharum that course sounds very interesting. I’m glad they open such course for cambodia. I see it as a way to strengthen not only Buddhism in our country, but also strengthen our culture. I hope u have fun and share with us. There are many things I still need to learn about Buddhism too.

Congratulations on passing the exam!
