Bill Gates to Visit Vietnam
At an invitation of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Microsoft Corp. founder and chairman Bill Gates will visit Vietnam next April. It is a big news in South-east asia as the world’s wealthiest man accepted to pay the visit from Vietnamese prime minister during his first ever trip to the United States last year. Microsoft will help Vietnam to develop its Information Technology companies and train teachers to use commercial propriety computer software.
In late 2005 Intel established its first representative office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. And early this year, Lenovo, one of the largest PC sellers, made the country debut. Not to my surprise that Mr. Bill Gates will not visit Cambodia, perhaps for another long while. However, a small pond with less little fishes has one alternative left: Open Source. By adopting Open Source Software, the country will not stave off Microsoft monopoly, but rather it may be the only way to attract the company’s attention to review their strategy to apply to small and least developed nations.
