European football have a powerful weapon to win a battle in Asia. Huge media coverage and marketing campaign spending, world class players from all over the world, speed and tempo of performance on the pitch, and famous celebrities David Beckham and Michael Owen, have attracted viewers in Asia at large. Most of them are familiar with Manchester United, Arsenal football teams in England, Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, Bayern Munchen in Germany, AC Millan and Inter Millan in Italy. It is probably the same way that I am so familiar with players such as Thiery Henry, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Michael Owen, Michael Ballack, Raul Gonzalez, Paolo Maldini, and many more. Youngsters Francesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie of Arsenal are my favorite players.
I habitually watch European football during the weekend, mostly English premier league matches. Real Madrid and Barcelona are great teams that I also find fascinating to watch. They have a completed element as a magnetic entertainment and sport. When impoverished Cambodia and many other countries have to pay a lot of money on importing western expatriates, in Europe, beyond promoting their football stars, wealthy European football clubs also have a composition of foreign talented players from South America Brazil and Argentina, some countries from Africa, and in recent years from Japan, China, and South Korea. Walking on Phnom Penh streets you will quickly note that young Cambodian children are in football shirt or t-shirt with a picture of Ronaldo and Zenedine Zidane superstar. Even a child or an adult who cannot read and write can speak out some famous fooballers like Beckham and Owen. Probably not only in Cambodia, they are a big brand names in Asia.
