Education Matters Much to Poor People

According to Human Development Report 2004, out of 170 countries Cambodia was ranked at 130. This Human Development Index measures achievements in term of life expectancy, educational attainment and adjusted real income.

What matters most is the right to development, fundamentally education. There are a lot of discussion about low rate of school entrance, poor education quality and unmployment after graduation. What happen when there are no adequate jobs for the people? Robbery, kidnapping, thieving and many other illegal activities. Women and Children have to work for a living, as no jobs available
here, they have to sell their labor in Malaysia, Thailand and
Vietnam. It is rather about money than dignity. Anyone care about people cross to Hochiminh city to beg, to Thailand to work as illegal laborers.

Young people are so enthusiastic to learn new things, getting good
experience from their elders. Giving them opportinities, we will see how talented and skillful they can carry out a job. Both young and experienced people can boost performance much better than anything else.

I think it is actually the Human Development Report, not Human Ressource Development Report. This years report deals with cultural diversity (http://hdr.undp.org/reports/global/2004/). And I think Cambodia deals actually fairly successfully with its various ethnic, national, and religious minorities, compared to any neighboring state.
